Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
